About
TheMan
|
Frank was an orphan, a
painter and an opportunist.
After studying in Art School
in the East, Frank hit the
dusty trails of America.
on an Indian, Harley.
Amongst ho-boing on
trains, biking and
serving a war or two for
kicks, Frank painted and
sketched
his way through America.
One day, he rode on the
Lincoln Highway through
State Center, Iowa. He met
a school teacher, Margaretta, and settled to painting
signs and landscapes. He
died
in Baxter, Iowa.
His
daughter, Dene Hellman, and
Granddaughter, Annie O'Dell,
wrote a book
in his
honor about eccentrics. On the
book's cover
(An
Explosion of Toads)
is the imposed electrified
version of Frank riding the
dusty
trails on his Indian Harley..
